Mudgeeraba Show Society Inc

The Mudgeeraba Show Society is a volunteer run, not for profit charity organisation who, through its annual Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show, showcases the rural and pastoral roots of our community. The Mudgeeraba Show Society seeks to preserve and perpetuate the heritage and grassroots values that agricultural shows collectively bring to our Australian communities.

On a year round basis, we also serve our community by offering our hire venue facilities to both private and corporate clients. We also make available to the public a free and safe recreational area amidst the beautiful greenspace which is the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds.

We encourage and support an array of community organisations that offer a window into the rich tapestry of our past, such as our local Woodturners, Spinners and Weavers, the Country Women’s Association and the Light Horse Education Museum

We are one of 129 agricultural show societies in Queensland and 580 throughout Australia. As part of the agricultural show fraternity, we are a voice and advocate for agriculture in Australia, past, present and in the future. We also serve to showcase the role of importance the Australian farmer plays in our economy and community.

Our History

The Mudgeeraba Show started as a small Fete and Flower Show, first run in 1928 to raise money for improvements to the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall.

It was to be an annual event, held in the hall and on the fields behind known as the Woodlands. It grew to include Horse sports and games, handicrafts and school exhibits.
1928
In 1962 Woodchop events were held for the first time and the Show continued to prosper.
1962
1973 saw the need to form a Show Society and to register the event as an Agricultural Show.
1973
In 1977 a new venue was found to hold the Show and we would like to acknowledge the former Schmidt Family Farm. This is presently the site for the Show and adjoins Worongary Road and the Mudgeeraba Pony Club.
1977
1985 saw the proud acquisition of a permanent pavilion at the Showgrounds, provided by the Albert Shire Council and leased to the Show Society.
1985
The inaugural poultry/caged birds were included in the show in 1990 along with the Heritage village in 2000.
1990
From it's early days, it's blossomed into a two day event showcasing Equestrian, Pavilion, Poultry, Woodchop, Farriers, and Livestock Judging, Junior Rural Ambassador and Showgirl competitions, working dogs in action, live bands, puppet shows, heritage displays, showbags and rides for the thrill seekers. This is followed by an exciting night program which includes annual regulars like the Horse vs Bike race, and the Young Farmers Challenge, a national competition where teams of four race to complete fun tasks like harvesting potatoes out of barrels, or lassoing pretend chickens into pens. We close the night with live music and the oohs and ahs of the crowd as the night sky is lit up with fireworks.
