The 2023 Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show, held over the weekend of the 24th & 25th of June, was an outstanding success, attracting over 20,000 visitors. With perfect winter weather and blue skies above, attendees were treated to a memorable experience that celebrated the history and heritage of the Show’s 93 years.
The show owes much of its success to the unwavering commitment of its numerous volunteers who generously offered their time and effort. From assisting with planning, setup and logistics to providing friendly guidance and support to our visitors throughout the weekend, their dedication was instrumental in creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors.
The Farmers Feast Luncheon, a highlight of the Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show in 2023, was a resounding success. The faculty and students of Tafe (Qld) Robina produced an extraordinary culinary experience. Over 100 guests had the privilege of dining in the ringside marquee, indulging in a delectable three-course meal that showcased the finest local produce. The talents of hospitality, cookery, and event students shone brightly as they skillfully prepared and presented each dish, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The cattle and Ute competitions held in the Turners Engineering Precinct were as popular as ever, drawing crowds of enthusiastic spectators and the livestock on display exemplified the region’s rich agricultural heritage. Meanwhile, the pavilion, equestrian, and poultry entries showcased the talents and dedication of local farmers, breeders, and exhibitors. The high quality of the entries reflected the hard work invested by its participants.
Our official Show opening was hosted by Bethany McDonald (SEQ Showgirl & 2023 Mudgeeraba Show Young Woman of the Year) and Ethan Bryson (2023 Mudgeeraba Show Rural Ambassador) who welcomed life member Mrs. Karolyn (Kelly) McMahon to officially open the show. Mrs. McMahon shared the story of her 45 year history with the Mudgeeraba Show Society.
The Norco Young Farmers Challenge added an extra layer of excitement to the show, as city dwellers from the Gold Coast embraced the opportunity to engage in farmer-themed challenges. The audience was thoroughly entertained as the city slickers tested their skills in various agricultural tasks, highlighting the importance of teamwork, whilst taking a light hearted look at daily tasks in our farming community.
On Saturday night, the Skyridge Fire and Light Ignite Mudgeeraba laser, light, and firework spectacular captivated the audience, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere filled with wonder and excitement. The fusion of lights, lasers, flames and fireworks painted the night sky, leaving spectators in awe and providing an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
The Heritage & Aramex Gold Coast Stages were filled with fantastic entertainment right across Show weekend, including Maddie Cail, Mikky & the other guy, Band of Blue and the Army band. We were also proud to support local community groups and clubs by offering complimentary sites and additional stage times.
Thank you to the Gold Coast community for your support. We are truly grateful. If you would like to join us in 2024 as a volunteer, member or business, please get in touch with us. We’d love to have you!
