On Monday 19 October, we had the pleasure of recognising some of the wonderful people who give their time and energy to the Mudgeeraba Show Society at our annual Volunteer Awards.
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and following a particularly challenging year, it was a lovely opportunity to acknowledge their hard work, commitment and contribution to our Society.
Congratulations to Our 2026 Award Winners!
Volunteer of the Year – Rob Cady
Rob has become an invaluable member of our A Team. Whether it’s building, fixing, organising or lending a hand wherever needed, Rob is always ready to get stuck in. His enthusiasm, practical skills and willingness to help make him a very deserving recipient. Rob is currently overseas, and we look forward to congratulating him in person when he returns in February.
Show Volunteer of the Year – Gillian Young
Gillian is part of our fantastic Sites Team, working alongside Anne to help coordinate one of the busiest areas of our Show. Her attention to detail, excellent communication and genuine care for everyone she works with make her a wonderful asset to the Society.
Rookie Volunteer of the Year – Zahara Alexander
Zahara has made a wonderful contribution through our Show Ambassador Program. Despite the cancellation of this year’s Show, she continued to enthusiastically represent our Society through community events, regional Shows and social media activities. A fantastic example of the next generation of Show volunteers!
Our 2026 Dream Team – Sites
The amazing volunteers on our sites team had done all of the hard work and had spent countless hours planning, preparing and communicating with everyone in the lead up to the 2026 Show. Such a great group and very deserving of this acknowledgment.

Thank You to All Our Volunteers
While these awards recognise some outstanding contributions, we know there are many more people working quietly behind the scenes throughout the year.
To all our volunteers, thank you for everything you do. We appreciate your time, generosity and continued commitment to keeping our Show Society and its traditions going strong.
We look forward to working alongside you all in 2027!
