On Saturday the 25th of March, we officially welcomed our 2023 Ambassadors into our Show family with a beautiful High Tea held at the Village B&B in Mudgeeraba.
We are so proud of our 2023 cohort; we are inspired by these young people and their enthusiasm to make a difference in our community. We look forward to seeing all that they achieve this year and thank them in advance for their commitment and dedication to the Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show in 2023.
The Winners are:
Young Woman of the Year – Bethany McDonald
Bethany has lived in Mudgeeraba for over 18 years and is an active member of the Mudgeeraba community. As a friend of the Mudgeeraba Lions Club and a former Mudgeeraba Girl Guide, Bethany has volunteered her time at the Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show with both organisations over a number of years serving damper with the Girl Guides and sizzling sausages with the Lions. In 2022, Bethany graduated with a Diploma of Event Management from Tafe Queensland.
Teen Young Woman of the Year – Alyssa Donaldson
Alyssa was our 2022 Teen Runner Up and is currently in Year 12 at Robina High School. Alyssa is the youngest sibling of 3 older brothers who are crazy about NRL and the reason that Alyssa began her rugby league referee journey 5 years ago. When not at school, Alyssa is usually out on a football field, or spending time with her dogs, an active pack of Australian kelpies who are spoilt beyond words can explain, they even have their very own Instagram page. Alyssa is an outgoing, adventurous individual and hopes one day to travel the world and meet new people.
Teen Young Woman of the Year – Runner Up – Haylee Bull
Haylee attends Miami High School and has represented the Gold Coast in both Baseball and Softball. Haylee has won the Karen Andrews MP award for ‘Service to Others’ and enjoys camping and learning Japanese. Haylee has attended the Mudgeeraba Ag Show for over 10 years and loves seeing the animals. Haylee is looking forward to experiencing our Show as an Ambassador.
Community Spirit Award Winner – Camilla Guthrie
Camilla Guthrie is in Year 9 at Somerset College. Camilla has been involved with Mudgeeraba Girl Guides for 7 years attending the National Ballarat Jamboree and assisting with the Girl Guides damper stall at the Mudgeeraba Ag Show. Camilla is completely obsessed with everything to do with animals and the environment. After finishing high school, Camilla wishes to be an Equine Vet. Camilla is excited to represent the Mudgeeraba Ag Show in 2023 as our Community Spirit Winner.
Rural Ambassador – Ethan Bryson
Ethan is currently studying Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in Gatton. He was the 2022 Varsity College School Captain and DUX. Since 2020, Ethan has volunteered as a Wildcare Carer, looking after orphaned and injured wildlife. Ethan was our Junior Show Ambassador in 2017 and is an avid Lego fan, winning the Mudgeeraba Ag Show Lego competition from 2013 to 2017.
